THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND IN DA NANG

Da Nang is a beautiful coastal city which is famous for not only the charming beach but also green mountains and the gorgeous Han River. To explore all of the attractions in Da Nang, there are numerous options to choose from, whether using public transportation or getting a personal vehicle. The article below will suggest some of the most convenient ways to take an adventure around Da Nang.

BUS

In recent years, the bus system in Da Nang has been enhanced significantly.  There are now 16 bus lines in Da Nang, two of which are tourist bus lines (CoCo city tour bus). In addition to this, there are 5 inter-municipal lines which connects to other towns out of Da Nang, including the ancient town Hoi An.

There are two ways to find information about the bus directions.

The first way is to go on the website: www.danangbus.vn/roadmap.html

Tips: Some of the lines do not show the ticket price. If that is the case, you can switch to Vietnamese by clicking on the Viet Nam icon on the top right corner, then scroll back to look for the price information.

The second way is to download the app Danabus:

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=asia.vietnam.danabus.danang.

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/danabus/id1213733363?ls=1&mt=8.

Benefits of the app:

  • Find the quickest route.
  • Find all the bus lines.
  • Find your nearest bus stop.
  • Track the bus journey.
  • Get detailed information about the bus map.

CoCo tour is a “funtastic” city tour operating on a double-decker bus. The CoCo team will take you to most of the Da Nang attractions such as Linh Ung Pagoda, Marble Mountain, Daragon bridge, etc. Those buses are available even in the rainy season since they have rain covered for the second decker.

For detail information, you can go to the website: cococitytour.vn/en/#

GRAB

Grab is one of the most popular ride-sharing platforms in Viet Nam but also in wider South East Asia. The operation of Grab is quite similar to Uber in Western countries, though, in Viet Nam, Grab is considered mostly a cheap taxi service.

So how can we book a Grab driver?

Firstly, you have to install the Grab app:

Android: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grabtaxi.passenger.

iOS: apps.apple.com/us/app/grab-app/id647268330.

Then, you click onto the app, choose a mean of transportation (car or motorcycle). The app will find you a driver, with all the information provided such as name, rating (by customers) of the driver, phone number, vehicle information, price of the tour, etc. You can cancel the ride anytime you want, but you should do it as soon as possible because the driver may be on the way already.

Besides transporting, Grab also has many other services such as food delivery, online payment, online booking, etc.

MOTORCYCLE

The motorcycle is the vehicle of choice in Viet Nam. It is cheap, convenient and fit perfectly the traffic culture of the country. You can find a motorcycle rental spot near the tourist areas on the coastal side of the city. Many tourists have got a motorcycle to explore the city themselves in the most local way.

So if you decide to take a motorcycle for your adventure, the following list below will give you some recommendations on the most reliable rental companies:

WALKING:

Walking is one of the best ways to explore a new destination on a deeper level, especially when it has nothing familiar to your own culture. Unlike other primary cities in Viet Nam, Da Nang is walking-friendly with the open sidewalk, well-managed traffic light and zebra crossing system.

The Love bridge (next to the Dragon bridge) is one of the places worth visiting on foot. This bridge pursues the concept of the Passerelle des Arts in Paris, where the couples can have a lock with their name seal on it.

The most suitable areas to explore by walking in Da Nang are the local markets (Hàn market, Cn market, etc), on the beachfront near My Khe beach, the river banks, the tourist attraction streets such as Lê Dun (the fashion street), Trn Phú (the very first street of Da Nang), Phm Hng Thái (the late-night cuisine street), An Thượng 1, 2, 3, 4 (Westerner town), etc.

Da Nang is a young and charming city, which has an alluring combination of modern and natural beauty. Though the transportation regulations of the city can be “flexible” compared to Western standards, Da Nang is, in fact, one of the safest cities in Viet Nam. So, if you are eager to discover Da Nang, no need to worry and take a vehicle to start your “funtastic” journey.
