A One Day Trip in Da Nang

Da Nang is one of the biggest cities in Viet Nam. As the centre point of this region, this coastal city is well known for charming beaches and stunning greenery mountains, which houses hundred-year-old cultural architectures. So if you want to explore the city, you can follow the suggestions below to discover Da Nang in one day.

 

The early breath in the morning…

Life in Da Nang starts in the morning. If you are an early bird, you can go to the coast at around 5 am to observe the dawn of fisherman’s workday, or just to view the gorgeous sunrise on the beach.

 

Mân Thái fishing village

Mân Thái is one of the most traditional fishing villages that maintains the rituals that have spanned centuries. For generations, the men of Man Thai take their boats to the ocean after sunset for anchovy, squish and all kind of marine lives. When the sun shows up again, they will hand the fresh fish to their wives and daughters to sell freshly on the seaside.

 

In the morning, people will go to the sea early to join the fresh seafood “market”, which is hold next to the basket boats of the fishermen. The fishes traded are picked up directly from the nets.

People of Da Nang will be on the beach for sports, chilling in the seawater or simply enjoying the cool fresh air of the ocean at dawn.

After a fresh start on the beach, it is time to gain energy for the day by a big breakfast and some coffee or tea, just like the Vietnamese style.

Bò Né, or sizzling beefsteak, is one of the most authentic local dishes of Viet Nam. It is a combination of beef and sunshine egg, served in an extremely hot cow-shaped pan.

Marble Mountains

Marble Mountains is a cluster of six rocky hills, named after five Elements of the Universe in Eastern Asia culture. Legend reveals the origin of these mountains in the eggshells of a dragon, who is the Emperor of the Eastern Ocean.

The Marble cluster is well known as a Buddhism sanctuary of Da Nang city. Mt. Water, the highest among this group has been chosen to set up Mahayana Buddhism pagodas since the 17th century. This mountain is also home of the biggest cave temple in Viet Nam, which is an alluring co-operate project of human and mother nature.

Monkey Mountain

Monkey Moutain, or also known as Son Tra, is a national preservation park. Besides protecting the natural habitat, this mountain is also famous for the highest statue of Quang Ying in South East Asia.

The highlight of Monkey Mountain is the Linh Ung pagoda, the youngest one among the 3 Linh Ung brothers of Da Nang city. Since the architecture was built based on the donation of Da Nang citizens, visitors do not have to pay any entrance fee, except for some free-at-will parking money.

K20

Description: History, war relic, tunnel.

Suggested duration: 30 minutes.

 

K20 is a relic of the Viet Nam war. In there, you can meet a living witness, who coordinated with the northern Viet Nam commandos to launch their sudden attacks towards the US army from the secret tunnels under their beds. You can also experience yourself walking in a war tunnel, to discover the art of Vietnamese guerilla warfare.

 

Bac My An market

Bac My An is a local market on the seaside area, where Vietnamese women come to collect food and household materials every day. This is a fascinating destination where you will see real authenticity.

Church of Rooster:

It is the local name of the Da Nang Cathedral, the oldest Christian architecture in Da Nang city. Together with the City Hall, the court and the prison, this is the first building built by the French in Da Nang, which is set up at the beginning of 20th century.

Nowadays, the church of Rooster, or the pink Catherdral, is the centre of Christians in Da Nang Diocese. The Cathedral is not only one of the most essential religious buildings of Da Nang, but it is also a fabulous Instagram destination, favoured by many visitors around the world.

In the morning, Bach Dang is a peaceful riverside street, where local people gather to play chess or chitchat. But when the sun goes down, the road reveals itself as the most lively area of the city, where all the coolest pubs take place.

 

The Golden Pine

The Golden Pine Pub serves an extensive range of drinks, shots are very popular here. After 22h00, this pub is generally packed, any night of the week. The crowd is an interesting mix of locals, expats and travellers. With good music, a dancing area and a quieter upstairs space the Pine is a good place for those looking for a late night out.
