札幌の秋の味覚を楽しんだオータムフェストが終わり、いよいよ北の大地には本格的な冬の足音が聞こえてきました。

札幌の冬といえば、何と言っても**「雪と光の饗宴」**！

今回は、日本で最初に始まったイルミネーションとして知られる、札幌の冬の風物詩**「さっぽろホワイトイルミネーション」**を徹底的にご紹介します。当ホステルからも歩いて行ける、幻想的な光の世界へ出かけましょう！

毎年、札幌の街をロマンティックに彩るホワイトイルミネーション。2025年も、開催時期や会場によって異なるテーマの光が楽しめます。

ホワイトイルミネーションの魅力は、会場ごとに趣の異なるデザインを楽しめる点です。

1. 大通会場（西1丁目〜西6丁目）

 

  • 開催期間：2025年11月21日（金）〜 12月25日（木）

  • 特徴: 期間が短く、クリスマスまでの約1ヶ月間しか見られない特別な会場です。西1丁目には札幌テレビ塔があり、ここからイルミネーション全体を見下ろすのが定番！雪の結晶や宇宙をイメージした壮大なオブジェが並び、特にデートや写真撮影に最適です。

  • 💡同時開催: 大通西2丁目では、ドイツ・ミュンヘンの雰囲気を楽しめる**「ミュンヘン・クリスマス市 in Sapporo」**も開催されます！ホットワインやドイツ料理を片手に、光に包まれた空間でクリスマス気分を満喫できますよ。

2. 札幌駅前通会場

 

  • 開催期間：2025年11月21日（金）〜 2026年2月11日（水・祝）

  • 特徴: 札幌駅から大通会場へ向かうメインストリートです。頭上を覆うようにLEDライトが飾られ、まるで光のトンネルを歩いているような感覚に！当ホステルから大通方面へ向かう際にも通れるため、夜の散策にぴったりです。

3. 札幌市北3条広場（アカプラ）会場

 

  • 開催期間：2025年11月21日（金）〜 2026年3月14日（土）

  • 特徴: 赤レンガの北海道庁旧本庁舎（現在休館中）のすぐ近くにある広場です。ここでは、冬でも葉を残すイチョウの並木が白やゴールドの光に包まれ、上品でクラシカルな雰囲気が楽しめます。札幌の歴史的建造物と光のコントラストは、絶好の撮影スポットです。

ホステルからイルミネーションの中心地、大通公園まではアクセス抜群です！

当ホステルはJR札幌駅北口から徒歩約6〜8分と便利な立地です。

  • 行き方: 札幌駅を抜け、南口側に出るとすぐに札幌駅南口駅前広場会場が見えます。そのまま駅前通を南へまっすぐ進むと、光の並木（駅前通会場）を楽しみながら、アカプラ、そして大通公園へと到着します。

  • おすすめ: 暖かい日であれば、街の散策を兼ねて大通公園まで徒歩で向かうのがおすすめです！

💡冬の札幌観光を楽しむためのTIPS

 

北海道の冬の夜はとても冷え込みます。イルミネーションを快適に楽しむために、必ず防寒対策をしっかり行ってくださいね！

  1. 究極の防寒対策を！：ダウンジャケット、ニット帽、厚手のマフラー、手袋はもちろん必須です。特に足元は冷えるので、厚手の靴下や防水・防滑性のあるブーツがおすすめです。

  2. あったかアイテムを活用：ポケットにカイロを忍ばせておくと、寒さでかじかむ手を温められます。

  3. ホットドリンクで休憩：大通会場の「ミュンヘン・クリスマス市」では、温かいグリューワイン（ホットワイン）やスープなどが楽しめます。凍えた体を温めてくれるので、ぜひ立ち寄ってみてください。

  4. 夜景とセットで楽しむ：大通公園でイルミネーションを楽しんだ後は、札幌テレビ塔に登って上から光の絨毯を眺めたり、JRタワーの展望室から札幌の夜景全体を眺めるのも最高の思い出になりますよ！

When we talk about winter in Sapporo, it’s all about the “Symphony of Snow and Light”!

Today, we’re giving you a full guide to the “Sapporo White Illumination,” a legendary event famous as Japan’s first-ever illumination. Get ready to step into this magical world of light, which is just a short, easy walk from our hostel!

❄️ Sapporo White Illumination 2025 Event Details

 

Every year, the White Illumination bathes Sapporo in a romantic glow. In 2025, you can enjoy different themes of light depending on the time and venue.

The beauty of the White Illumination lies in the distinct designs and atmospheres you can experience at each location.

1. Odori Venue (West 1-chome to West 6-chome)

 

  • Period: November 21, 2025 (Fri) to December 25, 2025 (Thu)

  • Features: This is a special venue with the shortest duration—you can only see it for about a month until Christmas! West 1-chome is home to the Sapporo TV Tower, and taking in the panoramic view of the lights from the observation deck is a must-do. Large-scale installations themed around snowflakes and the universe are lined up, making it perfect for date nights and photography.

  • 💡 Simultaneous Event: Don’t miss the “Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo” held at Odori West 2-chome! You can enjoy hot wine (Glühwein) and German food in a light-filled atmosphere, fully embracing the Christmas spirit.

2. Ekimae-dori (Sapporo Station Avenue) Venue

 

  • Period: November 21, 2025 (Fri) to February 11, 2026 (Wed/Holiday)

  • Features: This is the main street leading from Sapporo Station to Odori Park. LED lights are strung overhead, making you feel as if you are walking through a tunnel of light! It’s on the way when walking from our hostel towards Odori, making it great for a lovely night stroll.

3. Akarenga Plaza (Akapura) Venue

 

  • Period: November 21, 2025 (Fri) to March 14, 2026 (Sat)

  • Features: This plaza is right next to the historic Hokkaido Government Building (known as the Red Brick Office, currently closed for renovations). The ginkgo trees, which retain their branches through the winter, are adorned with white and gold lights, creating an elegant and classic atmosphere. The contrast between the historical location and the lights makes for a wonderful photo opportunity.

🚶 How to Get There from Ten to Ten Hostel

 

Access to Odori Park, the heart of the illumination, is excellent from our hostel!

Ekimae-dori Venue On Foot Approx. 5–10 minutes
Akapura Venue On Foot Approx. 10–15 minutes

Our hostel is conveniently located about a 6–8 minute walk from the JR Sapporo Station North Exit.

  • Directions: Walk through Sapporo Station and head towards the South Exit. You’ll immediately see the Sapporo Station South Exit Square Venue. Follow Ekimae-dori straight south, and you’ll pass through the illuminated avenue, leading you right to Akapura and then to Odori Park.

  • Our Tip: If the weather permits, we highly recommend taking a walk to Odori Park to enjoy the atmosphere of the city!

💡 Tips for Enjoying Winter Sightseeing in Sapporo

 

Sapporo nights in winter can get very cold. To comfortably enjoy the illumination, make sure you wear the right gear!

  1. Wear Ultimate Cold-Weather Gear! A down jacket, wool hat, thick scarf, and gloves are absolute necessities. Feet get cold quickly, so we recommend thick socks and waterproof/non-slip winter boots.

  2. Use Hand Warmers (Kairo): Tucking a disposable hand warmer (called Kairo in Japanese) into your pockets can provide instant relief for cold hands.

  3. Warm Up with Hot Drinks: At the Munich Christmas Market, you can enjoy hot Glühwein (mulled wine) and soups. They are perfect for warming your chilled body—make sure to stop by!

  4. Combine with Night Views: After enjoying the lights at Odori Park, head up the Sapporo TV Tower for a stunning view of the “carpet of light” from above, or check out the entire city from the JR Tower T38 Observatory!
